In May 2016, Hamleys, the famous British toy brand opened one of the world’s largest toy stores in Prague, Czech Republic. Working with Propability Ltd, who created a beautiful old tree model, we were tasked with creating a projected tree face that would speak to Hamley’s customers in both Czech and English as they shopped and also chat to some woodland creatures to add to the fun and theatre of the store.
The brief was to create a friendly, wise old tree that would welcome people to the store and introduce them to his friendly woodland creatures. Mr. Caterpillar makes an unusual appearance popping out of the tree’s nose and crawling all over his face! Mrs. Butterfly gracefully flies into the scene, landing on the tree’s nose which he isn’t too happy about.
Mr. Squirrel curiously scrambles over the tree pausing to take a closer look only for his tail to cause the tree to sneeze! And finally Mr. Woodpecker pays the tree a visit and gives him a headache by pecking his head too hard but the tree takes it all in good humour!
The tree also tells shoppers about what’s going on in the store and challenges Hamley Bear and Hattie Bear to see how many photos they can take with customers and shared on social media with the #HamleysPrague.
Hamleys is located close to the City Palais, at the corner of Na příkopě and Panská streets.
